Christmas Special! No Postage! I'll Pay the Tax!

Dear friends,

The prayer of my heart this Christmas is that God will restore broken marriages and fractured families. We are in a fight against satan whose desire is to destroy us and those we love.

Thirty-seven years ago I was ready to give up and walk out. I shudder thinking what my life would have been like had I obeyed satan and left the husband I have loved for over 40 years.
My decision to turn to God and honor my wedding vows is written with three different perspectives in my three books.

My Merry Christmas gift to you is to offer each book for $12 total. I'll pay the tax and the postage. Please message me on facebook or email me at SplashesofSerenity@yahoo.com with your order.

With thanks to God for restoring my marriage and prayers that God will work in the hearts and families of all reading the books He gave me to write to you.

May your marriage and family have their best Christmas ever!

Nurturing a Marriage While Nurturing a Child

How do I satisfy the needs of an infant in need of feeding
and a husband in need of loving?

Good question!

I can relate. After five years of marriage and two doctors telling me I would never have children, I gave birth to my first child. She became the center of my universe and my dear husband was somewhere in space orbiting around us.

Trying to mother and to wife seemed impossible.
I just could not do it all.

One day my husband jolted me with the truth,
"What good will it do our baby if we end up divorced?"

The best thing we can do for our child is work at and preserve our marriage.

Still, children take care and time and cannot be put back in the toy box until another day. They have needs—not just wants.

So, how do I balance my time and make my husband a priority?
Both parents need to exercise patience realizing this is a busy season in your life.
At the same time, there are things you can do to show your husband he is important to you.
  • Walk in his shoes. He may be feeling left out. You carried the baby in your womb, you delivered the little one, and for some, your breasts are feeding the baby. Some men feel jealous of the attention you are giving your baby. Your husband needs assurance that he’s still “The Man!”
  • Date him. Don’t fear leaving your children with a baby sitter. Nurture your marriage through a regular date night with your husband.
  • Kiss him. Really KISS him. Pack some passion behind that pucker! Show your children how much you love their daddy by greeting him regularly and as a surprise with a kiss.
  • Make your bedroom a love sanctuary. 1 Corinthians 7:3 says “Husbands and wives should satisfy each other’s sexual needs.” I don’t read, “unless there are children in the house” in that scripture. I know moms are tired. I also know a husband can feel like someone stole his wife when the baby is born.
  • Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, sleep when you can, and exercise. I know that seems impossible, but you’ll benefit (and so will your marriage) if you care for yourself.
  • Read a book on marriage. My books were written for drained moms and drained wives to be read in five-minute snippets. I know they have helped marriages get back on track.
  • Pray. Ask God to help you prioritize and be the wife and mother He created you to be.
As moms we want to give our best to our children. It begins by giving our best to our husbands. Nurturing your marriage really does go a long way toward nurturing your child.

I’d love to hear other suggestions. How do you let your husband know he is important?

Will You Partner with Me to Fight for Marriages?

I'm passionate about marriage. Too many give up on their marriage too soon (like I almost did) and throw away a love that God intended to bless (like he did mine).

I wrote We All Married Idiots (it took me four years) to help marriages keep running when they feel like giving up. To persist when they hit the wall. To turn to the best marriage healer of all — Jesus Christ. My heart smiles when I hear from a husband that he prays the last prayer in the book every morning, when I learn a wife has read Idiots five times, when a couple writes that they are staying together instead of divorcing because the words in We All Married Idiots changed their marriage.

In the past week I received four 5 star reviews. My soul rejoices. One read:

"God has worked through Elaine Miller as she wrote this book. If you are thinking of getting married, if you've been married for years, buy this book, read it and then read it again. Have married children? Buy them a copy...it will be the best dollar you ever spent. Take a long look in the mirror and then sit down and read 'Idiots' and as you do, you'll see your marriage and yourself unfold one page at a time. Brilliant."

Brilliant? No, I'm not brilliant. Another reviewer called Idiots, "Genius!" (How's that for an oxymoron?) I'm not genius either. But I am thankful. I am thankful for each review I receive because that review may be the one that stirs a reader to buy the book, read it, and save their marriage.

Readers, we are in a partnership. I thank God for each one of you. I need you.

I heard  (although I'm not sure it's true), that if a book receives 100 Amazon reviews then Amazon considers the book viable and promotes it. I'd like the opportunity for Amazon to invest in marriages by receiving 100 reviews.

I have 92 reviews!!! So close! If God leads you to partner with me in reaching 100 reviews, will you please do so at http://www.amazon.com/We-All-Married-Idiots-Marriage/dp/0984765522/

Will you pray for marriages in crisis around the world?

Will you consider having a We All Married Idiots book study in your home or at your church?

I thank God for your partnership. Thank you reviewers and readers of We All Married Idiots. I poured four years of my life into writing Idiots because I care about marriages. I care about your marriage.

Thanks for your partnership in the Gospel! Let's splash serenity on marriages at Amazon.com.

Be blessed this day!

God Saved Our Marriage and He Can Save Yours

I'm packing my bags and heading to Danville, PA where tonight I speak to the After Five Club at the Frosty Valley Country Club. Packing a suitcase for an overnight in Danville, brings back memories of many years ago.

We spent our wedding night in Danville, PA. That's a whole other story of  how I locked myself in the bathroom and refused to come out. What joy I was to my beloved that night.

Our marriage had a rocky start from day one. The first year I packed Dan's bags three times sure that our union would not last. Let's end this now before it's too painful and too late and children are involved, I reasoned.

Marriages haven't changed through the years. In 1970 and in 2014, couples still give up too soon for too little reason.

Dan and I packed and unpacked and packed and unpacked again, trying to muddle through our difficult relationship in our own strength and wisdom. What fools!

One day we grew up, wised up, and gave up our lives and our marriage to God. So simple, yet powerful. God filled our hearts with love for each other — a love stronger than we had ever before known.

God saved our marriage and He can save yours.

"For nothing is impossible with God."
Luke 1:37

Forty-four years ago scared silly I locked myself in a hotel bathroom. Tonight with confidence and no fear, I proclaim that Jesus is the answer to your marriage problems. Please hold on and don't give up for

"Love
 . . . never stops hoping
. . . never gives up."
1 Corinthians 13:7

Our marriage story is written in my two books, We All Married Idiots: Three Things You Will Never Change About Your Marriage and Ten Things You Can, and Splashes of Serenity: Bathtime Reflections for Drained Wives.

Please pray for the people who will hear my story tonight. May those who have ears listen.

Splashes of Serenity prayed for your marriage,

I Slept Alone Last Night.

Tossing and turning in my sleep, I reached for him, longing to feel him next to me — where he should be, but wasn't.

Dan slept in a different bed last night in another part of the state. I missed him.

When we married, God joined us as one person physically, spiritually, emotionally. Half of me was gone last night. Disturbing our oneness unsettled my sleep.

My marriage isn't perfect. There are moments when I want to escape to the guest room. Thankfully, those times are rare and brief.

How about you? Are you one with your spouse, or is there a wall (seen or unseen) between you? Whatever is going on in your marriage, please don't give up. Seek help.

I wrote We All Married Idiots because when we hit the wall, I almost threw away the most precious man and our amazing marriage. Too many husbands and wives give up too soon for too little reason.

Being a divorce statistic is not fun. Generations of  lives are hurt on your way to the lawyer.

God is using We All Married Idiots to help marriages survive and thrive. This week marks one year since my book's release. Many marriages have been helped, but there are many more sleeping alone tonight (and not because of a business trip). Would you please recommend We All Married Idiots to your friends? Perhaps, you need to read it too.

Thank you for caring about marriages. I'm praising God for healthy marriages being made more healthy and hurting marriages healed.

We All Married Idiots is available at your local bookstore or on-line. http://www.amazon.com/We-All-Married-Idiots-Marriage/dp/0984765522/

Dan returns home tonight. I look forward to sweet sleep in the arms of the man I almost gave up. Thanking God for keeping us from making the biggest mistake of our lives. Thanking God for my marriage. Praying for yours.

Enjoy sweet dreams in the arms of your beloved as a splash of serenity to your marriage.
