Why I LOVE Book Signings

I LOVE book signings. Being a people person, I crave meeting readers face to face. Screen time can frustrate an extrovert like me. Get me out into the public — now!

Plus, the God appointments at each signing leave me amazed at how God works.

I remember my first book signing of my first book, Splashes of Serenity: Bathtime Reflections for Drained Moms. I stood at the store's entrance and handed a book to every person who walked in. Inviting them to take a look, I assured them they didn't have to buy and explained Splashes of Serenity: Bathtime Reflections for Drained Moms were short devotional stories of real moms whose lives have known pain and experienced victory.

One customer listened to my "sales pitch" and started to cry. She shared with me:

"I'm visiting my daughter. She just learned her 18 month old daughter will never walk. She and her husband are at their home devastated. I decided to give them some time alone and I went for a walk. I've never even seen this book store. I'm not from this city. But as I walked down the street it was as though God told me to go into this store. Then, the first person I meet is you who hands me this book for drained moms. I know I'm to buy it for my daughter."

I prayed with her and stood in awe at God's divine intervention at a book signing. I will share similar stories in the future as my book signings often bring a stranger in need.

If you are in the Syracuse area, I'll be signing all three of my books this Saturday, September 8 at Sacred Melody bookstore (the same store where the above happened), 3501 James Street in Syracuse from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I'd love to meet you.

Please pray for me as I am a guest on Bridge Street, News Channel 9 WSYR TV this Friday, September 7 live at 10:00 a.m. and recorded at 8:00 p.m.

May we never miss the opportunity to be a splash of serenity in someone's life.

Thanks for your splash of serenity to me!

My Wedding Began in a Church—My Marriage Began in the Bathtub

I love my bath, which is why I wrote bath books.

My first book Splashes of Serenity (S.O.S.): Bathtime Reflections for Drained Moms was fun and impacting lives. My fingers soon began hitting the keyboard with words for a second book.

Why not write a book about marriage? Afterall, I did have a tale to tell and it even involved a bathtub. Splashes of Serenity (S.O.S.): Bathtime Reflections for Drained Wives was published a year later.

Another beautiful hard cover gift book, with the first reflection titled, "My Wedding Began in a Church—My Marriage Began in a Bathtub."

Honestly, my purpose for the Drained Wives book which I titled Bedtime Meditations for Husbands and Wives was a book for couples to read together at bedtime. Each of the 30 reflections can be read in five minutes. A husband and wife will laugh and cry and pray together before laying their heads for sweet sleep or whatever else the reflection prompts them to do.

Again, the publisher changed my title and Splashes of Serenity (S.O.S.): Bathtime Reflections for Drained Wives was born. This book has changed marriages. I'm tickled each time I hear from a husband who laughs and says, "I'm really enjoying your book for drained wives."

Thanking God for my writing journey, and for the splashes of serenity He gives to my marriage which happened to begin in a bathtub.

Where did your marriage begin? Want to share?

The Greatest Gift a Husband Can Give His Wife on Valentine's Day

"Spend time with me. Laugh with me. Listen to me. Pray with me." is the heart cry of many a wife.

Which is why I wrote my second book, titled, Bedtime Meditations for Husbands and Wives.
I wanted a book married couples would read together in bed
before sleep. A book that would make them laugh and cry and pray together before their heads hit the pillow.

My publisher had other plans and renamed the book Splashes of Serenity: Bathtime Reflections for Drained Wives. It's the same book; just the pronouns have been changed. I suggest it could be the sweetest gift you ever gave your sweetheart on Valentine's Day.

Present it with a promise to read one of the thirty reflections with her each night for the next 30 days. You won't be sorry. You'll laugh. You may cry. You might even make love! For sure, you'll bless your Valentine.

You can order on this blog, or contact me at SplashesofSerenity@yahoo.com. Orders must be received by Thursday, February 9 to assure a Valentine's Day delivery.

Happy Valentine's Day! May yours be splashed with love and serenity,

Elaine

Why Do I Write?

My head is spinning, my heart is soaring, my spirit is thankful. Here are some of the splashes of serenity God gave me at last week's Greater Philadelphia Christian Writer's Conference.

1. A conferee said, "My child has Downs Syndrome. You wouldn't believe the discouraging things people have said to me. I read your book and thought, This author gets it. She understands. Your 'Drained Moms' book gave me hope and I just want to thank you." We both cried and hugged and I prayed for her child and for her.

2. Another conferee caught up with me in the cafeteria saying, "I gave your book for 'Drained Wives' to my niece who was leaving her husband. She read your book and decided to stay with her husband. Hallelujah and thank you!" I couldn't even eat my lunch after that splash!

3. Four publishers are interested in publishing my next book. If you are led, please pray for me and the publishers to know God's will. Thank you.

Why do I write? I write to change lives and lead people to their only hope--Jesus Christ. Last week God confirmed my call to write His Answer. Perhaps God is calling you? Is he? Let me know. I'll pray for you.

Thanking God for my readers--the sweetest splashes of serenity of all.
