My Just-for-Fun Birthday Poem

Oh, happy birthday fun!
Today I am seventy-one!
So thankful God gave me this race to run
And allowed me the joy of being seventy-one.
I'll rise early with the sun
And celebrate 'til the day is done.
I'll start the day with a birthday bun
Knowing there's a birthday cake to come!
I'll spend the day golfing with my hon.
Thankful for my two daughters and a son.
Thirteen grandchildren I love a ton.
In this race called life I'd say I've won.
Another birthday I will not shun
Because God's plan for me it is not done.
Another book I've just begun!
Hooray! Leukemia has come undone!
Trusting targeted therapy will prevent a rerun!
So, I refuse to be happy birthday blue.
As I pray God gives me birthday seventy-two!

A Silly Happy Birthday Poem to Me!

I love my birthday. Why? Because I love life. Every birthday represents another year to live and love and enjoy this beautiful world God created. I've always been a girl with a lust for life, and these baby pics made me laugh. From day one I've been on the go!

This year I love living even more than past years. Cancer gives a new appreciation for every day. You celebrate your birthdays big time! So, as is my custom, this writer who is not a poet wrote a birthday poem. Enjoy!

Oh what joy! I am just fine
Celebrating birthday number 69.

A year ago I did not know
If 68 would end my show.

But God Almighty, the Great Divine,
Smiled and said "Happy Birthday child of mine!

Your days are ordained—all in a line.
More birthdays for you is My Grand Design."

So live well my friends and never whine.
Celebrate your birthdays—dance and dine!

Each birthday is a treasure to live—not resign.
You'll be happy forever if you cling to the Vine.

I look forward to laughs aplenty
As God blesses my way to number 70.

Happy Birthday to me, Miss Splashes of Serenity!

Why I Love My Birthday

Why do I love birthdays? Wow! Birthdays are a celebration of another God-given year to live and love and serve and shine. Another year to enjoy and cuddle  grandchildren and love my man and eat birthday cake! I LOVE birthday cake! Birthdays are days not to diet. Birthdays are days to celebrate the beauty of being alive. Birthdays are fun!

Many of my friends died young.  Three with cancer in their 40's dared dream that they would live to celebrate their 50th birthday,  attend their children's weddings, and  hold their grandbabies. At their bedsides, I vowed silently that I would never grieve birthdays. I would celebrate them. In memory and in honor of  dear friends I loved whose lives ended in sickness, car crashes, and wars, I celebrate you and how your life touched mine.  Because of you, my life is richer and my birthdays are more fun. I remember you as I treasure each year God gives me to live. May I never waste precious time.

"Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time.
But no one seems to care or understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.
For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die."
Isaiah 57:1

Here is this year's silly birthday poem. I write because writing makes me happy and today is my Happy Birthday!

Oh, man alive!
How could I no longer be 65?

Am I really 66
When I still enjoy playing pick up stix?

Oh my, oh my, I'm in quite a fix.
I'm not sure I like being 66.

After all, I still order BABY cones at Lakeside Licks
So how can I be 66?

When setting goals, never in my top 10 picks
Was even the thought of being 66.

Still remember boys looking at me as one of the cute chicks!
No more — today I'm 66

For fun I made a cake from a mix
But, alas, there was no room for 66 wicks.

Can you even be 66
Without 66 wicks?

Enough of these silly tricks.
I thank God for blessing me times 66.

I smile and realize in another year if I'm not in Heaven
I'll reach that beautiful age of 67.

Splashes of Serenity on me today! After all, it's my birthday and I thank God I am alive!

Man Alive! I'm 65!!!

Elaine the pain.
Elaine with a cane.
Elaine with no brain.
Elaine the insane.

I've been called a lot of things in this life
But man alive!
I've never been called 65!!!

I can no more
Claim to be 64
How can it be?
I'm not even 63!!!

65
There's still time to jive!
Eat honey from a hive.
Be a guest on Kelly LIVE!
Jump off a high dive!

Oh never more
Can I say I'm 64.
But if the Good Lord keeps me in the mix,
I'll enjoy the year before I'm 66!

Enjoying a Florida Splash of Serenity with my love on my birthday,
