Run Your Marriage Race Like a Fox

My husband pointed out the fox footprints in our snowy yard. "See, a fox walks in a straight line one foot in front of the other."  Unlike the bunny or squirrel who bounces about leaving the prints on the right, the fox walks that straight center line.

When it comes to marriage, we should be like a fox. Keep our eyes and mind focused on our spouse and our marriage. Don't take a passing glance at another person or praise the attributes of anyone other than our husband or wife. When tempted to sin, don't go there. Keep walking that straight line.

We can't see them, but be sure lion's footprints also encircle our homes. That prowling lion has a goal to devour our marriage. He appears sometimes in the form of well-meaning friends who encourage us to take a step on the wild side, or who find joy in spouse-bashing. Don't go there.

"Be self-controlled and alert.
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion
 looking for someone to devour."
1 Peter 5:8

Be a fox. Keep walking. One step in front of the other. Don't veer to the right or the left. Run the marriage race God called you to run and win.

Remember, an idiot stumbles. An idiot falls and makes mistakes. But a fool runs the wrong way.

Run your marriage race like a fox. Don't run the wrong way.

Splashes of Serenity on your marriage!
