Are You Dissatisfied With Your Life?

My conversation with 12 year old grandson Garrett blessed me. Listen in:

Me: If you could be anyone in the world who would you be?

Garrett: I would be me. Why would I want to be anyone else?

Great answer. I love what children teach me. If we need a fresh perspective in life, I suggest we spend more time under the influence of little ones and less time comparing ourselves to our peers.

In this world we seem to run races trying to be someone God never created us to be. Many of us are exhausted, dissatisfied, complaining creatures hoping the next bend or the new toy or another degree or a bigger house or a new spouse will produce the sunshine we yearn to warm our empty souls. We don't like the size of our noses, our bottoms, or our paychecks.  Discontentment abounds.

Will you join me in choosing contentment with the person God created you to be? Realizing God knit each of us according to His perfect plan and He ordained every day we live before we even live it. There's peace knowing God is in control. Plus, He's given us a wonderful promise in Jeremiah 29:11:

"For I know the the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future."

Why oh why would you want to be anyone else but you?

  1. Good reminder. Usually, I am happy with who God made me to be, but it's hard when we compare and envy what we see in others.

  2. Plus, we need to make sure we are becoming the person God created us to be. Are we in His will and being obedient to Him?
