A Peek At Our Retirement Home

"Grow old along with me.
The best is yet to be.
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand."
~ Robert Browning.
It was odd house hunting for a home where Dan and I can grow old. "The best is yet to be!" we said, as we looked for halls wide enough for wheel chairs, showers we can step into, and a laundry room and bedroom we can enjoy without climbing stairs. This could get depressing, except we know God is preparing a mansion for us in Heaven. This is my temporary home. Thanking God for meeting our needs, I'll give you a quick tour.

God blessed and we are excited to begin the last third of our lives. I didn't take pics of the outside, but this house sits on a four acre wood. My little boy (that would be Dan) is excited to go play and clear and chain saw in his little peace of heaven on earth.

Welcome to our home! (Please note that the furnishings are from the previous owner. She's good at decorating!)

There they are — double doors. Hmmm.
Wide enough for two wheelchairs, we joked.

On a happier note:
You see a breakfast nook. I see a Bananagram table!

Let the line up of grandkids helping me bake cookies begin!

A farm house sink.
I never heard of such a thing.
I love it because it's big enough to bathe twins!

Bookshelves in the kitchen? SOLD!

Our tenth grandchild is on the way!
We may need to open those doors and extend the dining table outside!
 Sounds good to me!

Bosnian handcrafted Christmas stockings will be hung by the chimney with care.

A pretty family room. Picturing next year's Christmas tree in this corner.

Welcome to the bedroom wing!

What a great hall for our walker races!
The open door at the end invites you to my office.
Bookcases floor to ceiling on every wall thrill me.
I never thought I'd tear down a book case, but I do need space for a desk!

Master bedroom fun!
Built-in book cases allow us to grab a book and escape outside to a covered deck.
Retirement is sounding nice right now.

I'll let you know when we spot our first deer from the master bedroom windows.

Will another Splashes of Serenity Bathtime book be written here?
I pray so!

Laundry and/or mud room.
Love that big husbands and little grandboys and their dirty shoes have their own separate entrance.

We've named all of our houses.
There was SONny Corners,
and
Robin's Rest

Dan calls this home
Our Cozy Cottage in the Woods.

I pray our house will be called
 A Place of Peace.

Which name do you prefer?
You all come visit  now, ya hear!
Thanking God for the splash of serenity a home brings,
