To intubate or not to intubate?
That was the question.
No one asked me!
I had no clue intubation was on the doctors' minds this fine day.
Too warm,
I took off my socks.
"Who took off your socks?" the nurse asked.
"I did."
She didn't believe me.
"You did not.
You aren't strong enough to take off your socks.
You couldn't walk up three steps right now."
"Of course I could.
A month ago, I walked nine holes of golf with my husband.
I not only can take off my socks,
I can dance!"
Sliding out of my bed, I did a little twirl and took a bow.
The astonished nurse documented my performance on my telephone.
To intubate or not to intubate?
That was the question.
The answer came when the doctor learned I was in ICU.
Dancing!
Never give up hope,
Never underestimate the power of prayer or
the power of God.
God is a miracle worker.
He performed a miracle right when my doctor needed to
make a life-giving or a
life-threatening decision.
Thank you to all who prayed me through,
took off my socks,
and joined me in a jig.
"Now to Him who is able to do
immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us,
to Him be glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations,
for ever and ever!
Amen."
