But when an author tweets EVERY FIVE MINUTES a quote about their book, and a link to buy it, that is a little much. Jesus stood in the marketplace and cried out, "Come to me, all who are thirsty!" but He didn't holler every five minutes. He spent most of His time ministering, and some of the time marketing. So there has to be a balance, or we come across as arrogant. I forget what a gift God has given and how to let him work through me in this. Thank you for your inspiring words! I haven't ordered your book yet but look forward to reading it soon! Others may make snide remarks. I've reached the point of not caring what people think because I know there are some whose lives have been changed by what authors write. Don't hide your talent or your light under a bushel, Linda. No! Don't do it! Shine on, dear gifted friend.Elaine W. I considered this a total gift from the Lord, same as the photos themselves. When I shared my good news with a group of friends at work, one looked down her nose and said, "You like to toot your own horn, don't you." I was shocked and hurt. My first reaction was, "You don't see it that way when you share photos of your European vacations with those of us who'll never be able to afford expensive trips!" (I didn't say that, but I was thinking it real loud.)
Since that day, I've tended to share my trials and triumphs only with people who "get it." But that doesn't go very far towards publicizing my work. I still feel weird even handing people my postcard for ***Songs for the Lord***. Whoop, whoop! That's my book of original hymns and songs, available for Kindle on Amazon.com!! :D
See, I can do that, but I feel like I have to add the self-deprecating grin.
Sigh ...Linda Bonney Olinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-431604197337893046.post-42604935444605547362012-04-12T08:57:14.287-04:002012-04-12T08:57:14.287-04:00You are right, Rhonda.
